"Ascent" is an engaging casual game about evolution and the circle of life, where you start your journey as a tiny aquatic creature in the primordial ocean. Your goal is to survive, evolve, and make your way to the surface of the sea. As you grow, you consume food to get bigger, and once you've reached maturity, you'll find a mate to reproduce.
After gathering biomaterials from decaying creatures, you'll nurture your baby, then take over its body to evolve further. This process repeats as you climb higher on the evolutionary ladder! To move forward in the game, you need to grow, reproduce, and evolve, all while avoiding other creatures that aren't part of your species. If you die, don’t worry, you’ll get another chance.
Your soul can inhabit a new, young creature, allowing you to continue your journey. However, be careful! The "spirit world" is foggy, and it can be difficult to see enemies. If you collide with another creature, the game will end, so keep your wits about you. Food plays an important role in Ascent. As you grow, you'll pick up food, including some poisonous particles that you need to avoid.
After mating, your creature will extend its receptors, which are used to locate floating fragments of matching shapes and colors. On later levels, you may need to combine two different shapes to create the right receptor, adding more complexity to the gameplay. When you're in the "spirit world," look for brightly colored hosts of your species.
Make sure to check the evolutionary level of a potential host before taking over, as doing so might cause you to fall back a level, making it harder to progress. On PC use the WASD/arrows to move and P to pause. On touschscreen devices use your finger to drag anywhere on the screen. Get ready for a journey of survival, evolution, and endless challenges in Ascent!
